It is my prayer that as we journey through the attributes of the God of the Bible, your heart is being stirred with thanksgiving for this God and you are being moved to love and worship with obedience in response to what you are learning!
Today we will meditate on our God’s omniscience. Some passages of the Bible to read: Isaiah 46:9-10; Psalm 147:5; Psalm 139:1-4; Hebrews 4:13.
Omniscience is a fancy word to say that God is all-knowing. There is no knowledge outside of His reach. There is nothing done in secret that He does not see. He sees and knows all things from eternity past into eternity future. He knows each star and has named them all. He knows the number of each hair on our heads. He knows the number of our days. He knows the things undiscovered as yet by science. He knows all outcomes of all events that happen or will happen. He knows the thoughts and motives of every heart. There is nothing hidden from His sight. There is no information that could be added to His knowledge. His knowledge is infinite and extensive.
What about us? How do we compare to the infinite knowledge of our God? Even the smartest human on the planet compared to the infinite knowledge of God, knows absolutely nothing. We know only what we know. We know only what we are told. We know only what is happening in our sphere because we are limited to time and space. We don’t know what is happening in the lives and homes of others. We don’t know the motives of people’s hearts. It’s almost laughable that we could think that we in some way know better than God!
But what a beautiful and compassionate invitation we have been given from this all-knowing God to trust completely in Him. “Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Who better to trust with all your heart than the One with all understanding and all knowledge!! Who better to submit to than an all-knowing God who sees and knows all things about our circumstances! The Lord has invited us to trust Him and pursue Him for wisdom and knowledge through the study of His Word. How kind of Him that He would condescend to us in such a way!!!
God All-Knowing is worthy of our love and trust. Oh let us give thanks to Him this day!
