Meditation: Psalm 36:5-6; Romans 5:8-9; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (This passage shows us Jesus!)
God is infinitely loving. Simple words with profound depth. When we think about God’s love, we need to remember all of the characteristics we have looked at so far because the love of God cannot be separated from them. You cannot divide God up by His attributes but rather His attributes are all-encompassing and all-together. What I mean is that God is not part holy, part just and part love. He is altogether holy, altogether just, and altogether love. His love is a holy love. His love is a pure love, perfect without any flaw. His love is good. His love is righteous. His love is just. His love is patient. His love is glorious. His love is jealous. His love is wise. His love hates what is evil. His love is eternal. His love is unchanging. His love is selfless and sacrificial. The greatest display of God’s love is seen in the face of Jesus as He took on the just penalty for sinners like you and me!
God’s love for His children is unlike any other love that we have ever known or could ever know. The greatest romance or the love of a parent are but mere shadows of God’s unfailing, never-ending, faithful, active love for His children.
Give thanks today for God who is infinitely loving to His children!
