Giving Thanks for the Giver of Gifts: God - Faithful & True

Nov 16, 2018

“God is true. His Word of promise is sure. In all His relations with His people God is faithful. He may be safely relied upon. No one ever yet really trusted Him in vain. We find this precious truth expressed almost everywhere in the Scriptures, for His people need to know that faithfulness is an essential part of the Divine character. This is the basis for our confidence in Him.” (A. W. Pink)

Whatever God speaks or does is truth and reality. And whatever He says, He will do. His faithfulness is inextricably tied to the truth that He proclaims. And remember all that we have already learned about the character of God: He never changes, He is good, He is holy. That means that the truth and God’s faithfulness to the truth is good and holy and unchanging.

He never forgets. He cannot lie.  His Word stands forever.  He is infinitely faithful and enduringly true.  In a world where “truth” and “reality” seems to be ever-changing  and “faithfulness” lasts only as long as it feels good to me, the knowledge that God is always faithful and true is the solid ground on which Christians can stand in a world of sinking sand.  “If we are faithless, He remains faithful—for He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)

God calls His children to trust Him based on HIS faithfulness and truthfulness. Meditate on Deuteronomy 7:9; John 14:6, 2 Timothy 2:13, Titus 1:1-3,  asking God to strengthen your heart to trust in His unchanging character and give thanks today for a faithful and trustworthy God.
